Journey of one "Malcolm Redmountain"

Summer 47, 6023

Eclair and Vincent return from an off-screen journey to the Tower at Sedgemarl to pick up Stelle and Flamagio's magical staves. The Order of 8 had constructed them to the specifications of each to mark the occasion of them joining up as journeymen. Stelle got an elder staff (for healing) and Flamagio got a hawthorne staff (for blasting). As Flamagio is currently indisposed, Vincent held the staff for safekeeping.

Ronby had been asked to escort a new smith's apprentice (Rolof's nephew Malcolm) to the new frogfolk settlement east of Croakpool. The party headed downriver towards Croakpool after collecting the young smith from Rolof's office.

Summer 48, 6023

The party arrives in Croakpool. They offload a bunch of monster parts to Nervetti, the veteran monster hunter in town. In particular, Vincent cuts a deal to get daggers made from some excess troll claws over the next few weeks and Nervetti requests some monster blood from whatever they fight next.

The party heads east into the swamp, arriving in Froggleton (the frogfolk settlement in a flooded fort) late in the day. Malcolm sets up his anvil and gets to work making a crude forge from the surrounding bricks, the frogfolk immediately ask him to start melting down some "scavenged" orcish armor they had recently acquired. The frogs complain to the party about giant mosquitoes controlled by a bloodmage (nearby) and harassment from salvage crews out of Fairvane (far away). The PCs accept the hospitality of the frogfolk and sleep in one of the towers.

Summer 49, 6023

The party headed back to Croakpool, stopping along the way to visit a witch they had heard about in the swamp. She explained how to make potions of regeneration to Stelle. [I didn't write down the recipe but I'm pretty sure troll blood is involved. Probably should have written it down.]

Return to Croakpool, sleep on the S.S. Eggbert.

Troll Ambush and Practical Geometry

Summer 50, 6023

Party decided to head into the Foggy Forest and see what the heck was up with the scary tree in the woods. They make landfall at Dakssonhold and walk west into the woods, finding the scary rowan tree before too long.

Stelle approaches the tree and seeks to commune with it. The tree tells them to go away, that men have broke the ancient contracts with the woods and that the old ways have been forgotten. Wants appeasement in the form of metal blades and spilled blood of their enemies for even letting them walk the paths of the woods. Overall, the party takes this as splendid news (?) and returns to their makeshift camp along the central path. They post guards for the night and sleep.

Midway through the night, the party is ambushed by trolls. Antinni uses their Shape Vessel spell to turn a fallen log into a motorized vehicle and the party escapes at top speed, abandoning their gear at the campsite. They continue fleeing at top speed until they exit the woods, the sunrise breaking Antinni's makeshift vehicle.

Summer 51, 6023

The party gets back to find their mules and cart taken. They track the stolen cart through the woods to find at the end a dome of mud filled with sleeping trolls. One of the PCs sneaks inside to get a closer look, also discovering a set of gnomish power armor and a regeneration tank, complete with recuperating gnome. The party retreats to regroup, ultimately deciding that they need to go all the way back to Croakpool to figure out what to do next.

Summer 52, 6023

Get back to Croakpool after a long walk through the woods and a boat ride. Acquire 10 vials of "sleep aid" (narcoleptic poison). Party mulls over possible options, including possibly hiring Palomo and the Eaglewing Bandits for extra manpower. Eclair vehemently declines this as an option, despite the crew being willing and present in Croakpool at the time.

The party decides on a plan and heads back out.

Summer 53, 6023

Party gets back to the shore at the edge of the Foggy Forest and bushwhack inland to the site of the troll mound. Antinni uses Shape Vessel again to make a speedy vehicle and drives directly toward the mound, a smouldering pot of lamp oil clutched in one hand. He got to the edge of the dome and used Reform Circle, hoping to seal up the dome's many escape tunnels, allowing the PCs to smoke out the trolls.

Instead, the dome reformed itself into a sphere, pushing its way out of the ground to do so. After doing some math outside the game, it became clear that with the given dimensions of the dome, the dirt that made up the new sphere would immediately crumple under its own weight, destroying itself. We calculated that the dome would be roughly 5000 tons of dirt, a truly massive displacement.

All the trolls died and the goods inside were mostly crushed. The party spent a week digging out the ruins, including the battered gnomish Power Armor. They collected some troll blood from a (sort of) fresh specimen and smoked as much troll meat as they could dig out. They loaded up the S.S. Eggbert and headed out on the morning of day 7 of the dig.

Summer 60, 6023

The PCs return to Circlebrook and offload what they can. In particular, they sell 500 units of smoked troll meat ration to Rolof Redmountain, who's in the middle of gearing up his soldiers for some "succession skirmishes" with other orcish clans in the mountains down south. He promises to explain more later.

Party unloads the padlock altar containing Flamagio and the 21 faculty and students of Darkwind Academy to the Council of Currents, hoping that the 3 naiad sisters will be able to keep the altar safe while the party adventures around.

The party makes a trip to the Tower at Sedgemarl to sell the gnomish power armor and remains of the regeneration machine to the Order of 8, then head back to Circlebrook.

Summer 64, 6023

After all the loot is divvied up, Ronby declares that they are done adventuring, they're going to set up a bank. They take their split and use their Tome of Stone to create a stone bank building in town, upgrading their existing cottage. Ronby promises exhorbitant fees and interest rates to all loans given, excepting any he's personally adventured with. He has exactly 0 competition in the small town, so figures that it's a seller's market.
