H&Y Infinite Open Table Session 26 (Duet with the Bulettes)

Autumn 5, 6023
The party decides to finally try out this "horseriding" thing since they keep needing to travel to different places farther afield. They pick up a few horses from Pasternak Farm and ride south towards Begblueton. They encounter a few bulettes on the way but sacrifice the sheep they had brought along with them to throw the large landsharks off their trail.
The three adventurers get to Begblueton to find the town in a lot more dire condition than the last time they were there. The town's eagle riders haven't been able to keep the bulettes away from the fields long enough to harvest much, and the wizards of Darkwind Academy and the Ogres of the Skullfort have both not come down from their mountain fortresses to help the village as they usually do.
Autumn 6, 6023
After staying the night (and paying exhorbitantly for it to try and help out), the party decides to head up into the mountains to the Skullfort to see what happened to the ogres. They find a deadly fog and a room filled with undead ogres killed by massive (ogre-sized) arrows. They continue into the Skullfort and find a living ogre named Gelig Nar who claims to be the last living ogre, he's stuck here ensuring that the undead monsters that used to be his clan don't escape into the wilderness.
Gelig Nar also explains what happened to the Skullfort: a necromancer named Silthik snuck his way in and ambushed the clan's leadership and the central living areas with the deadly fog, killing them and raising them as undead minions. Silthik remains deep in the bowels of the Skullfort now, protected by undead abominations and casting a ritual that will grant him enough power to be unstoppable (the ritual will finish on the last day of Autumn).
Gelig Nar suggests the party go get him predator bones -- the prey-souls that are puppeting the bodies of his family are scared of predator bones. Specifically, he notes that armor made from a bulette skeleton would render whoever was inside near-invulnerability against the skeleton horde.
Autumn 7, 6023
The party heads out into the Sea of Grass to try and find a bulette or two. They do indeed find 2 bulettes and learn very quickly that they're outmatched. Xavos ends up taking several grievous wounds and almost loses control of his body to the demon inside his skull (Malphas). Eclair and Silvio similarly get quite low before Silvio is able to scare off the bulettes with a well-timed Lightning Bolt.
The three adventurers limp back to town empty handed, vowing revenge against the bulettes.
