Weekly J3H Campaign Starts 11: Avery Island
I'm making 3 hexes and a town every week of 2024 in the style of Chgowiz's Just 3 Hexes format. Check the J3H tag to see all entries in the series.

Campaign: Avery Island is a product of it's shoreline and relation to nearby landmarks, like Sedgeport. Thousands sail past every year, never looking deeper than the bays and beaches, never seeing the island's bizarre heart. Only those brave enough to face the isle of birds will find the treasures hidden within.
Homebase (0201): Spike Harbor - A sheltered harbortown peopled by gullfolk that make their homes in the cliffs around the water. Gets its name from the pointed rocks at the mouth of the harbor. Spike Harbor gets a lot of trade due to its position as a convenient middle man for Sedgeport for entities who don't want to get close to the vampire nobles.
Location 1 (0202): Wreck of the "Seven Saints" - The wreck of a massive wooden battleship, it's back broken on the sandbar and reef that it still rests on. Used commonly by sailors as a marker for the shallower waters around the reef and also as a convenient neutral ground for pirates and smugglers. Local legend has it that a ghostly version of the ship sails again on nights with no moon.
Location 2 (0302): The Maw - A tidal cave known as 'The Maw' sticks out prominently at the midpoint of Avery Island, the rocks around seeming to form teeth around a central gullet. A sea hag lives within, offering lop-sided deals to any foolish or desperate enough to seek her out. Her children, crabfolk and sharkfolk, hungrily patrol the coast for any visitor too slow to clarify their intent to negotiate with their mother.
Location 3 (0402): Egg Tower - A squat ugly tower perched on the cliff edge surrounded constantly by seabirds of every variety. The wizard who lives here, Elutris, is an oologist and ouefmancer, a purveyor of eggs and all they contain. Strange hybrid creatures like duckbulls and owlbears can be found all over the eastern half of Avery Island, a product of Elutris's experiments.
