Infernal Pact

Weekly J3H Campaign Starts 14: The Great Ravine

I'm making 3 hexes and a town every week of 2024 in the style of Chgowiz's Just 3 Hexes format. Check the J3H tag to see all entries in the series.

Infernal Pact

(Hex tiles used in the image are from Zeshio's Pixel Hex Tileset, the map was created using Hex Kit)

Campaign: The Great Ravine splits the land both culturally and politically from the Redmountain Orc lands further north and west. Old money investments from back west show up here in plush carriages only to be robbed and ransacked by the knife-in-the-teeth new money robber barons of Mon Cliff. Might makes right around here and many compete to see who shall ultimately come up on top.

Homebase (1916): Mon Cliff - A town built around a bridge spanning the Great Ravine, the houses both at the top and built into the cliffsides below. Teams of miners ride large elevators to the bottom of the ravine laden with tools or back to the surface laden with sorcerous crystals. A new rowdy saloon crops up every 2 weeks like clockwork, the barfights between overworked laborers spilling out into the streets at every hour of the day.

Location 1 (2114): Fort Malice - An old dwarven fort built near the formation of the Great Ravine. Now inhabited by desert witches, the rivals and ex-coven of the Canyon Sage in 2216. They ride from the fort on dust devils every full moon to steal supplies and construct elaborate mile-wide ritual circles in the sand.

Location 2 (2116): The Lonely Soldier - A plateau of red rock standing higher and further apart than any of the surrounding plateaus. Has a massive carving in the side of it depicting an old dwarven soldier holding shield and spear. It's said that anyone who can climb the statue to touch the tip of his spear will awaken the statue under their control.

Location 3 (2216): Canyon Sage - A timeless middle-aged woman camps in an expansive tent nestled amongst a field of petrified would-be assassins at the bottom of a canyon. She answers questions in exchange for days of life, with a refund if she's wrong (she's never wrong). She stores desert storms in a big clay jar in front of her tent, it spins and rattles if one is fast approaching.
