Infernal Pact

Weekly J3H Campaign Starts 19: Greenville and the Zombies

I'm making 3 hexes and a town every week of 2024 in the style of Chgowiz's Just 3 Hexes format. Check the J3H tag to see all entries in the series.

Campaign: How many zombies could a mail-armored man-at-arms slay on their own before being taken down or converted? Take a visit to Greenville and you'll soon have your answer. That's if you can even reach the hidden town past the necromancer-priests of Rakonterr and their roaming undead hunter-packs.

Homebase (1404): Greenville - A former farming village turned walled boom-town when the aftermath of The Burning gave way to wave after wave of ravenous zombies. A local witch saved the inhabitants of the village by casting a ritual to hide them from the sight and senses of the walking dead. 3 years later, the survivors have begun to buck under the tyranny of the witch, and have begun looking for allies to depose her in the local redcap and duergar populations.

Location 1 (1604): Blackfire Cathedral - When the zombie hordes began to walk the earth, the Goldendawn Cathedral changed their allegiance (and their name) to the demon lord Rakonterr. The priests now command the dead and drag unwilling sacrifices into their dark crypts to awaken more undead minions. Mindless dead under the command of high seneschals have been laboring to breach the nearby royal catacombs to gain access to the legions of dead soldiers buried with the ancient kings.

Location 2 (1403): Redmane Butte - The highest point around for miles and miles, also the most visibly covered in new vegetation. Surrounded by a thick wall of spiky brambles grown and maintained by the minotaur druids that live within. They possess a special flower within said to break any curse and cure any ill, though its rumored that it only blooms within the light of a burning gravepyre.

Location 3 (1204): Blue Moon Harbor - The wrecked former fishing town stands cold and empty with several burnt-out sailing ships drifting in the harbor proper. Salvage crews out of Greenville have mostly cleared the town of the walking dead, but a new hunting pack shows its face anytime anyone tries to settle in the ruins. The rare visit from a well-guarded merchant ship out of Sedgeport or Spike Harbor is getting more common in recent months, though that's more due to their ability to gouge their prices than anything else.
