I'm making 3 hexes and a town every week of 2024 in the style of Chgowiz's Just 3 Hexes format. Check the J3H tag to see all entries in the series.

Infernal Pact

(Hex tiles used in the image are from Zeshio's Pixel Hex Tileset, the map was created using Hex Kit)

Campaign: The song of the wild beats close to the drumbeats of society here near Hawkswell. The hunters of the Humblewood ensure no one leaves their homes at night, at least not without the protection of the Peregrine's bird-human guards. Evil lurks beneath Thimble Hill and with each foul heartbeat emanating from its hollow caverns, a new monster is born, further and further afield.

Homebase (0605): Hawkswell - Hawks are as common as crows here, the more domesticated ones perch on the eaves of rooves to watch the goings-on of the commonfolk. The people carve depictions of their favorite birds into their doorframes, their fenceposts, their skin. Ruled by the Peregrine, a soveign granted wisdom from the owls, cunning from the crows, flight from the hawks and the burden of responsibility from the humans.

Location 1 (0823): The Humblewood - An old-growth oak forest at the foothills of the local mountains. The Humblewoods have hidden a multitude of sins in their years, and many bodies lay tossed carelessly into shallow pits under the watchful eyes and root clusters of the old trees. When a man can no longer face society, he walks into the Humblewoods to become one of its wolves.

Location 2 (0923): Flying Sword Fortress - An ancient stone fortress dominated by narrow stone bridges that stretch between its many towers at seemingly random angles. Would-be swordsmasters would travel to the fortress to practice sparring in a vertical environment, claiming that the open air and bizarre criss-crossed bridges made them "Sky Seekers." They left their swords and teachings at the top of the towers, trusting that anyone who could reach them was worthy of the gift.

Location 3 (0724): Thimble Hill - A weathered mountain flattened by millennia of wind and rain, peppered by cave entrances covering all faces. The inside of the mountain twists and turns, the exact path through known only to the minotaur that live there. Local legend states that anyone else heading into the mountain is doomed to walk on and on forever, the literal size and depth of the mountain giving ground to the Curse of the Labyrinthine.
