Weekly J3H Campaign Starts 4: Into the Wasteland

I'm going to be making 3 hexes and a town every week of 2024 in the style of Chgowiz's Just 3 Hexes format. I'm planning on keying all of these hexes in the same world (my currently running open table) so I'll keep the hexes in roughly the same area. I'll still preserve the idea that every town could be an adventure starter though.


Infernal Pact

Campaign: The Great Fire of 4 years ago destroyed much of the human river kingdoms, forcing survivors to ford the river with not much but the clothes on their back. Recovery efforts have been sluggish, made even slower by the actions of unimpacted kingdoms taking advantage of the sudden population influx. Some have started to take matters into their own hands and returned by themselves to their homelands, fighting back starvation and decay whether they get assistance or not.

Homebase (0303): Fairvane - A walled river stronghold, ringed on all sides by fields. Steel-shelled soldiers patrol the river and direct work-gangs out in the fields under the constant watchful gaze of floating observation servitors. Salvage crews regularly depart on ash-covered barges to the northern shore, rumors run wild that Protector Marbleheart has them looking for the magic blade Cloudshaper in the Ruins of Carlonfeld (0103) to use as a dowry for her daughter's upcoming marriage to the heir of the Redmountain Clan.

Location 1 (0103): Ruins of Carlonfeld - A city once renowned for its forges and metalwork, burned to a still-glowing char by the Great Fire. Ash and dust bury arcane forges still burning away beneath the rubble. The potential for treasure draws many to the area hoping to snag some of the old metalwork, but the death toll from the danger the city presents now almost matches the deaths caused in the original blaze.

Location 2 (0201): New Meldonville - A new village cobbled together from the scraps of the old kingdoms. Salvagers and mushroom-farmers work together to eke out a living amongst the charred wastes and the beasts that call that place home. Cain the Seer, the leader of the village, is currently (unsuccessfully) trying to repair the arcane complex that provides clean water.

Location 3 (0401): The Red Tower - The tower of the feared sorcerer Beryllius and home to his minions, the Bone Legion. When the fires came for his tower, Beryllius threw up his hands and called up a shield of immense power, saving his tower and the area immediately surrounding it. The people coincidentally saved by his spell swore allegiance to him and now march through the wastelands at his beck and call, collecting arcane salvage and extorting travellers for tribute.
