Infernal Pact

Weekly J3H Campaign Starts 9: Rustrock

I'm going to be making 3 hexes and a town every week of 2024 in the style of Chgowiz's Just 3 Hexes format. I'm planning on keying all of these hexes in the same world (my currently running open table) so I'll keep the hexes in roughly the same area. I'll still preserve the idea that every town could be an adventure starter though.

(Hex tiles used in the image are from Zeshio's Pixel Hex Tileset, the map was created using Hex Kit)

Campaign: The bulettes of the Sea of Grass are getting more and more persistent in their hunting of the people of Rustrock. At the same time, the Bulette graveyard expands further and further outwards from the center of the Sea of Grass. Something is agitating the dead here at the edge of the world, but what?

Homebase (0307): Rustrock - A hardscrabble village carved out of the red mountain rock at the western edge of the Sea of Grass. The entrances are all spaced 20' up to stay out of range of the bulettes, small rope ladders dangle beside every door. The inhabitants use large masks made from bulette skulls to scare away the fearsome landsharks.

Location 1 (0306): Mina's Spring - A natural spring spouts from the rock at the edge of the Sea of Grass and forms a small oasis, it's the most accessible fresh water for miles and miles around. Named for the naiad that once lived in the spring, before she was captured and bound by ancient wizards. The area is now treated as safe ground and sanctuary to all by the locals in her honor, hunters won't even take game while they're drinking at the pond.

Location 2 (0205): Ghostly Castle Seacrown - The old seat of Duke Seacrown, who once presided over the Sea of Grass and the environs of Sedgeport when it was still prosperous. The castle itself is not always visible, it fades in and out of this plane and the plane of the dead. Local legend has it that the flickering is caused by the last Duke of Seacrown, and that any who put him to rest will inherit his title.

Location 3 (0506): Bulette Graveyard - All bulettes in the entire Sea of Grass migrate here to die, a large spiral pit dug by the same bulettes as they expire. Their bones and shells line the walls and spiraling path for a full half-mile from the center of the pit, the remains of hundreds and thousands of individual specimens. All attempts in the past by necromancers to raise the dead bulettes results in their disappearance.
